When I travel I love to stay at luxurious hotels - especially the kind of places that offer over the top extras and really spoil their guests with great service, nice spas, awesome restaurants and beautiful views. What more can you want? To save some time, I've put together this list of my favourite 5-star hotels and resorts in Shimoda. I hope you will like it!

  Ryokan. Boasting various hot spring baths and saunas, Seiryu-so is a traditional Japanese-style accommodation surrounded by greenery along the river. Warm hot spring water is used for the outdoor swimming pool, which can be used all year around. Free Wi-Fi is provided in the lobby area. Each room is fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding, and features a TV and a fridge. Guests can relax in the comfortable seating area next to the large windows. Free toiletries are included in the en suite bathroom. Seiryu-so provides spacious indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, some of which can be rented for a private use. There is a large outdoor spa and sauna area, surrounded by lush trees. A beauty massage salon is also on site. The property is a 5-minute walk from Rendaiji Station.
