What more can you want? To save some time, I've put together this list of my favourite 5-star hotels and resorts in Takayama. I hope you will like it!

  Ryokan. Offering modern-style Japanese rooms with free Wi-Fi, mood lighting and an LCD TV, Nakaodaira boasts 6 private hot-spring baths that can be reserved free of charge. The inn is located a 10-minute drive from the Shin-Hodaka Ropeway cable car. Guests at Nakaodaira Inn sleep on a traditional tatami (woven-straw) floor in Japanese futon bedding, and tea/coffee and Yukata robes are provided. Each room has a private toilet, and guests bathe at the hot-spring baths. Rooms boast views of Japan's North Alps. The 6 private hot-spring baths include 4 interior and 2 open-air baths. Advance reservation is not needed, guests can simply enter an unused bath and hang a sign on the door. Kamikochi is a 30-minute drive away, and the property is a 90-minute bus ride from JR Takayama Train Station. It features a bedrock and a cypress public hot spring bath, where guests can unwind with mountain views. The property is a 20-minute complimentary shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. Free WiFi is available in all rooms and lobby area. Fitted with a relaxing ambience, tatami (woven-straw) flooring and futon bedding, each room comes with a flat-screen TV and a fridge.
